Some Diet Tips

Along with exercise I know that I need to work on my diet and just eating healthier overall. I found a few key tips that Web MD posted so they must be true right?

1. Drink more water! -I know I rarely drink the correct amount and water fills up that hole in your stomach that you try to stuff with cinnamon buns!
2. Keep eating your favorite foods- Any diet plan I have used that told me to cut out all the delicious things I love has lasted roughly two weeks. Keep eating your favorite foods; just try to keep it under control by eating smaller portions.
3. Eat mini-meals-Eating 4-5 small meals or snacks per day is proven healthier than three square(large) meals a day.
4. Protein, protein, protein! -Protein is more satisfying than carbohydrates and when combined with exercise preserves muscle mass and encourages fat burning. Some sources of protein are cheese, nuts, beans, and yogurt. WORD TO THE WISE-Almonds are delicious and a great filler but too many is detrimental!!!
5. Make a Swap- I know that I love my pasta y'all but a great tip I heard was to swap out that cup of pasta for a cup of veggies!

Ass of the Couch!

Hey y'all!
My name is Megan and I am a fairly average girl with a little extra love around the waist. I am about 5'6" and I just hit 156 lbs. Unfortunately this is not my highest weight but it is my highest within the last four years. Once upon a time my beer gut began to grow until I hit a total of 175 lbs and reached an energy level of non-existent. Although my weight has not gone back up to its major peak I have been noticing my energy level gradually slipping until the final straw this morning.

I came to work over an hour and a half early so that I would have plenty of time to use the building uninterrupted. (There is more space than my house as well as high speed internet access for all of my streaming needs!) I pulled in the driveway with my radio blasting and felt like I was ready to accomplish anything. I got everything situated and threw out my yoga mat to start with some quick stretches. As I laid down to stretch out my back I found my eyes slowly closing and my mind starting to drift. It was so comfortable and quiet...well maybe a little nap wouldn't hurt...
Over an hour later my co-workers walked in to find me curled in a neat little ball, drooling like a baby. Needless to say there needs to be something in my life to get my ass up and moving! I am hoping to use this blog for tips and to keep y'all updated on my fitness progress.
